VOLUNTEERING AT LA JOLLA ELEMENTARY
Introduction to Volunteering Within SDUSD

San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) volunteering strategy (Vision 2030) highlights the involvement of parents, community members and the business community to be essential to their success and the success of its students. SDUSD very much encourages and wants families, community members and business partners to be involved in their local schools, now more than ever. And, highlights many ways for interested individuals and organizations to get involved, at both the school site and district level.

SDUSD has a number of mandatory procedures in place for school volunteer programs. These procedures provide students with a safe environment and allow for a variety of opportunities for volunteering. Our school volunteering program is governed by these procedures and, all volunteers at LJES must complete all mandatory screening requirements.
For every school in the SDUSD, volunteer participation is classified into four categories. And, depending on the category, certain screening processes must be completed by district staff prior to volunteering. Every volunteer at LJES has mandatory volunteers to complete.
