Getting Started When You Are New To Volunteering
Do you want to be more involved at La Jolla Elementary? Whether you would like a small commitment or large commitment, we have many volunteer opportunities throughout the year. To get started with volunteering or to explore what opportunities are available, please complete the LJES Volunteer Opportunities Form Below. Fill out what areas may interest you and, on completion will be sent to the VP Volunteers, Kaitlin Barr.

CHECK WE HAVE YOUR CONTACT DETAILS
Confirm that your family information is current on Classroom Contact Lists, the School Directory and the School Office also has your correct contact details. The PTO manages the LJES School Directory and the deadline for submissions is usually beginning of September.

REGISTER FOR EBLAST (WHALEMAIL)
To receive emails from La Jolla Elementary School, LJES PTO and Friends of LJES, make sure you have signed up for eBlast communications using the link below. We will usually send 'Signup Genius' invitations ahead of most events either through Whalemail or directly to your email address on file.

SPEAK TO YOUR CLASS ROOM PARENT​
Speak to your Room Parent about available volunteer roles in your child's classroom. We have serveral roles available at the beginning of the school year some of which are shared roles - Library Liaison, Class Photographer, Gala Art Project Coordinator, Gala Basket Coordinator, Enrichment Class Helper, Class Garden Coordinator.

CLASS TEACHER WEEKLY UPDATES
Lookout for class activity volunteers and class trip chaperones. Teachers will usually send parents weekly 'what's happening' updates and there will be many opportunities to volunteer throughout the year!

SPEAK TO PTO CHAIR OF AN EVENT THAT INTERESTS YOU
Finally, you can reach out to any of the PTO chairs to express interest in PTO volunteer roles, preparation for upcoming events and volunteer roles at the events. Everyone is happy to help you get involved in our school community.
